Q: how many ft. lbs. should I torque the front and rear axle bolts?
Front: 57 ft. lbs.
Rear: 57 ft. lbs.
Q: What can I do to get the bike into neutral more easily?
A: Check the shift rod on the shift spline on the left hand side
Q: How do I adjust the seat on my Heist?
A: Tools needed:
One 10mm spanner/socket wrench or open ended wrench
There are 2 bolts on the front of the seat unscrew them, then lift the seat up off the bracket and push it back one or 2 holes till its lower bolt back on and your done.
Q: think I flooded the engine, now what?
A: engage the handle bar kill switch turn off the gas at the petcock
without giving it gas push the starter button 2–3 times for a few seconds
Q: what is vapor lock - and what causes it?
It occurs when the fuel changes state from liquid to gas while still in the fuel delivery system. This disrupts the operation of the fuel feed causing loss of feed pressure to the carb , resulting in transient loss of power or stalling. Restarting the engine from this state may be difficult.
Q: I have a case of the 'the slap' or LCS (loose chain syndrome). Is there a salve for that?
A: adjust the rear wheel and tighten the chain till there is .5 inch of play.
Use a caliper to properly measure the adjustments bolts on the rear of the frame.
Q: why do my screws/bolts keep coming loose on my Heist?
A: with any motorcycle there is vibration, with vibration there is oscillation.
This causes nuts and bolts to become loose. With a hard tail there is more vibration.
Use a medium strength (blue) thread locker to keep nuts and bolts in place.
Do a check on your bike prior to a ride 10 minutes can save your life.
Q: what do I do if my battery is dead and I need to start the bike?
A: Learn a life saving skill.... the bump start. Put the bike in second or third,
hold the clutch and roll the bike forward till you hit about 3 -5 mph release the clutch and the bike should roar to life.
Make sure that the kill switch is set in the on position.
Q: what can I do to make my engine more powerful - or just get more top end?
Right off the bat, a 16T front sprocket will give better high end
Q: at what point should I do a valve adjustment?
A: 1500 miles is a good point
Q: what is the best recommended oil and how/when do I clean the filter?
A: Synthetic oil is best for this engine, clean the filter at every oil change
Q: having a rigid frame is obviously not the most comfortable thing. Any recco's for a more smoother ride?
A: better seat springs or an airbag suspension, check your tire pressure
Q: I have some great ideas for custom work but can't do it myself, who should I talk to?
A: doing custom work requires some knowledge of powertools and imagination
Q: can I mod the bike for 2 up?
A: this is not recommended for the stock configuration.
The rear fender is held on by 4 bolts and 2 clips.
Q: how do I convert km's to mph?
A: 1 km = 0.62 miles

A: This is a safety feature on the bikes, it is not recommended to remove this. In theory to disengage it there is a
connector clip on the rear side of the side stand. Just pull the clip,
tape off the head and tie it to the frame.
Q: what is the recommended PSI for front and rear tire?
A: front tire 30PSI and the rear is 28PSI
Q: what are some good resources for different 7/8" bars and grips?
A: Ebay and Lowbrow Customs are a good source for bars and grips
Q: would love my tins custom painted - where's a good place to have them done?
A: painting is such a personal preference, do your homework and ask
your dealer who they may recommend.
