This is for our Riders new and not so new. 12 months we opened this site and have been on this journey together. I am moved by the support but more over by the comradely.
I have been lucky to meet some of you in person, some over the phone and others to share a quick story here and there online. I count myself lucky to call you friend, brother and sister.
Today is a day of Merriment and somewhat of Reflection as the year quickly comes to a close. We stand strong and continue to grow daily as our community shares in its exploits.
This being a year of growth and change I look to the next, 2013, in solidifying ourselves in the great community of riders. I am glad to take this journey with you all, no destination required.
Be Well Be Safe and ride Happy. May your Holiday be one of joy and happiness
Look to the road and know that the ride is ours for the taking.
So on Tuesday while riding with my buddy Geoff, I was on the misfit and hit a turn at 40mph. Well there was gravel and I went down... hard. I had presence of mind enough to push off before we went down. The Misfit slid hit a rut and flipped, then skidded to a halt. Me I hit skidded bounced and rolled coming up on my feet in a fighting stance then dropped to a knee and thanked my Irish luck and God.
This dude Milton comes running up, he was sitting sunning himself, helps me right the bike and was talking to me to make sure I was okay. I was pretty shaken but had my priorities in order. Fished out my smokes, all but 2 were smashed and broken, lit up and checked the bike. Well milton is an AMA mech and has been on dirt tracks all over the world. Once he realized that I was fine he stated that that was the best fall he had ever seen and he was disappointed that he didn't have his video camera out and running, lol.
Geoff was concerned but I waved him off and we hit the shop. Weaver and Alan got the bike back together in no time flat, 4 hrs while I cleaned myself up. they wanted me to go to the hospital but I steadfastly declined knowing I was mostly surface hurt.
With the Wraith back in order Geoff and I continued on our way and rode yesterday for another 230 miles through the beautiful twisties of the Bear mountain and the various routes along the uper part of the hudson.
i think I will revisit my theory of ATGATT
I have rash along the right side of my body a few gouges here and there prob some bruising on my ribs and left knee but nothing more substantial and that a steady dose of Advil cant handle.
The bike is riding great and better than before.
My take aways are as follows;
1. Wear your gear
2. Dont be overconfident.
3. respect your machine and dont take it for granted.
Let us throw our Support and everyone kick your leg over and Ride to work on June 18th.
